How Korean men's sizes work
Korean men's tops are sized by chest circumference in centimetres. A jacket marked 100 is cut for a chest of about 100 cm (39.4 inches); sizes climb in 5 cm steps from 85 to 115. The number comes from the national apparel standard KS K 0050 (men's clothing sizes), which labels a garment with the body measurement it fits.
Some tags add a height: 100-175 means chest 100 cm, height 175 cm, and suits may add the waist too (100-88-175). One common tag convention is 90 S, 95 M, 100 L, 105 XL and 110 XXL, but letters vary by seller. Compare the measurements rather than assuming that a letter means the same thing everywhere.
How to measure your chest
Wrap a soft tape around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades, over a thin T-shirt. Keep it level and snug, and breathe normally as you read it. A 97 cm reading sits at the top of a Korean 95 and the bottom of a US M, so the converter shows Korean 95 alongside US M.
Korean shops may publish 실측, the garment's own measurements, rather than body sizes. The key line is 가슴단면, the chest measured flat across the front: doubling it estimates the garment's chest circumference. Allow room for movement according to the garment and your preferred fit. 어깨너비 is shoulder width, 총장 is total length and 소매길이 is sleeve length.
Converting Korean to US sizes
The table reads the Korean number as a chest in centimetres (±2 cm), converts it at 2.54 cm per inch and finds the US letter whose range contains it on the common US chart: S 34–36 in, M 38–40 in, L 42–44 in, XL 46–48 in. A Korean 100 is a 39.4-inch chest, squarely a US M. A 95 (37.4 in) falls in the gap between S and M and shows as S–M; a 105 (41.3 in) shows as M–L; a 110 (43.3 in) is a US L.
Under these example conventions, Korean 100 may be tagged L while the same chest measurement falls in US M. Use that as a starting point and check each seller's measurements: labels and cuts differ. Korean jeans and chinos may use inch waist labels or centimetres; 82 cm is about 32 inches, but the garment's actual measurements still vary.
Why brands differ, and how to shop
A body measurement is not the garment measurement: each brand decides how much room to add. Shoulder width, sleeve length and overall length can vary even when two labels show the same chest size. Fit names such as regular, tapered and oversized are useful clues, but compare the measurements because each seller defines them differently.
Check shoulder width as well as chest and length. Compare the seller's 어깨너비 with a shirt that fits you well. Reviews help too: 정사이즈 means true to size, 크게 나왔어요 runs large and 작게 나왔어요 runs small. Near a boundary, choose by the garment's measurements, not its letter.
